The Tea Pad Fellowship Program

The Tea Pad Fellowship Program

The Tea Pad Fellowship Program advances women and BIPOC in cannabis STEM (science, technology, engineering, and medicine). The Fellowship provides financial and professional opportunities for candidates.

The nonprofit Tea Pad Foundation LTD funds the tea Pad Fellowship, founding partner social enterprise CannabizMD, corporate partners (plant-touching and ancillary service providers), and individual donors.

The Fellowship will deliver a foundation in cannabis science and policy, leadership training, and invaluable cannabis industry networking. Following the completion of the education program curated by CannabizMD, Fellows will be matched with a cannabis business for on-the-job training and experience based on their skills and preferences with the goal of permanent employment.

As Tea Pad’s primary goal is to increase diversity in the cannabis industry, particular emphasis will be placed on placing female and minority candidates.

Tea Pad Fellowship candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • An undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in 6+ credit hours
  • The candidate must demonstrate the attributes: forward-thinking; passion; strong work ethic; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); creativity; drive; confidence, and discipline with a keen interest in working in the cannabis industry.
  • Submit an official transcript demonstrating a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation letter from a current faculty member.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from community members which demonstrate the applicant’s actionable commitment to their community.
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Submit a 750-word original essay on why the candidate would like to work in the cannabis industry.
  • Requires an interview with Tea Pad Advisory Foundation Board member(s).
  • For more information, email Tea Pad Founder/CEO Jacquie Cohen Roth, MS
  • Founding Tea Pad sponsor CannabizMD is a proud partner on a Maryland EARN grant, a workforce development grant program training learners to become cannabis plant trimmers in the cannabis industry. Learners receive a $500 stipend to cover childcare, transportation, etc. If they have a possession record, it will be expunged at no cost. For more information, email CannabizMD Founder/CEO Jacquie Cohen Roth, MS.

The Tea Pad Scholarship at Morgan State University

The Tea Pad Scholarship for Black Entrepreneurship at Morgan State University considers the student's grades, leadership roles along with school or community involvement.

"It (prejudice) is such a waste. It makes you logy and half-alive. It gives you nothing. It takes away."
